India is rich with cultural festivals and each month at least one festival takes place in any of the states which are traditional. This traditional background is the main attraction of India. All festivals in India are colorful and it is the integral part of an Indian. Festivals have an important role in Indian culture. It helps to promote tourism which is the main income source of India. Foreigners are attracted to India because of these cultural festivals which are entirely different from that of other countries. Indian handicrafts are more famous which gets more sales in festival seasons. This plays an important role in Indian economy. Different states have different culture and their cultural festival also different. Some festivals are common all over India which is celebrated together in same day with same procedures.

Common cultural festivals in India are Onam, Holi, Durga Pooja, Vinayaka Chathurthy and deepavali. These festivals are cultural heritage of India which attracts foreigners to India. Each cultural festival has own speciality and methods of celebration is also different.  People of every religion celebrate these cultural festivals in same manner. This makes all Indians to act as one even the culture are different. Festivals are celebrated in temples, mosques or other common places by decorating all over and sharing delicious food to all and also by wearing new dresses. Traditional folk dances are the main attraction of Indian festivals. Lots of foreigners are coming to India to see and learn these traditional dances which are new to them. Also conducts group prayers and meetings in festival season.

Cultural festival attracts people from all over world to India in a large scale which helps to give a big name to India. Each and every visitor prefer festival season to come to India because of these cultural festivals. Behind every festival there is a story which reveals old culture of India. These colourful festivals help to bound peoples all over India under a common roof. There is no difference of state or religion for celebrating any kind of cultural festival in India. It is common for all people in India. Common aim of all Indian cultural festivals is same. But the difference is the method used by different people while celebrating it. In other words we can say it as “unity in diversity”.

In India all 12 months in a year is festival season because different state people have their own local festivals which are related to their culture. Some festivals are religious based and only people of that particular religion will celebrate it. Main Hindu festivals are Diwali, Ganesh Chathurthi, Holi, Ugadi, Dussera, Pongal or Sankranthi and Muslim festivals are Eid Ul Fitr, Eid Ul Adha, Muharram and also Ramadan. There are some common national holidays which all Indian celebrate together in same way such as Republic day, Independence Day and also Gandhi Jayanthi. Both religious and common festivals are the main asset of India by which Indian get name and fame all over world easily.
